A (moderately) proud moderate American

I wasn't able to go to "The Rally to Restore Sanity" in DC this weekend, but just seeing the coverage of it cheered me up about the way things are going in this country. I mean, hey, a rally of people who don't take themselves too seriously! Now that's my demographic!
Here's a selection of amusing signs snagged from The Huffington Post. There are hundreds more on the sight.

Very good signs and funny too.

Especially like the paradoxes of the first sign, which kind of bears out Jan Morris's dictum that it's fine to be patriotic but not to be nationalistic.

You have no idea how vicious the election has been here in California. Truly, the only bright spot in the last two months has been to watch Meg Whitman spend millions of dollars only to go down in total flames. Her campaign hit new lows. For an entire year we have been bombarded by radio and television ads paid for by her ebay millions. No one wants this day over more than me because I am so sick of this woman (not to mention she has absolutely no moral center, but that's a rant for another day).

Alas, here the electorate turned out in bigger numbers than the national average....and elected nothing but crooks.

"I pay taxes because I'm an adult and that's part of the deal"

A-MAZING.

These signs should be permanently posted, with cement footings, in people's front yards. They cut right through the teabagger fog.

To "Anonymous" from Bowie Maryland. The fact that you are too cowardly to identify yourself says everything anyone needs to know about you. "Grown ups" don't hide.

I've deleted your comment because it is hate-filled and ugly. I'm truly sorry that you or anyone has to live so blinded by rage and bile that you can't see the humanity in all of us - we all struggle and suffer, love and lose, succeed and fail. We all, even you in your anger and fear, have great beauty in us

God sees that, even when we don't, and loves us all. May that love fill you and help you find your way to peace and kindness.
