I wish you....

love, and total acceptance from those who love you, of all your weaknesses, foibles, and neuroses. And yours of theirs. I wish you joy in the small things that occur always all around us, even in difficult times. I wish you compassion and kindness in your times of heartache, and I wish that those heartaches bring you deeper compassion and kindness for others. I wish you friends to hold you close when you want to give up and let go.

Thank you for being my friends and for giving me all the things I have wished for you.

I've noticed you at YellowDogGranny's place and love your Avatar and your comments. I'm now going to blog roll you. Don't be scared. It won't hurt.

You sure look like my kind of woman. In an unstalkerly, totally sort of straight way. Why don't you come see me sometime?

And happy whatever you wish this season.

Elizabeth,
For no particular reason I checked my spambox today where amidst many things I was grateful to be spared, I was surprised to find a family letter from you. Of course I rescued it as precious "not spam."

I'm sorry to hear of Kirk's illness, but impressed by his ability to complete books--my own is still 15 pathetic pages short. And I remember you both fondly. If you should come to SF at anytime, be sure to get in touch. In the meantime, I will make do with your wonderful blog.

Thanks for being my friends, my therapy, my sounding boards. You've really helped me through what was a fairly rough year. I look forward to 2009 as a year of better health for us personally (do you think it would help if I threatened to kick the husband's ass if he gets sick again? No, I guess not.), and politically (Hey January 20th! You can't come soon enough!).

Utah Savage - Thanks for visiting and commenting, and I'll look forward to visiting you soon!

Jeannene - Oh I'm so glad you dug me out of the garbage! I found your email on the husband's list and thought I'd pass on some of our news, especially about his health issues.

As for his book, and the writing of it, let's just say his strategy for dealing with illness is to burrow into the 19th century as deeply as possible and to find questions that no one else cares about yet (!) and answer them. It's great professionally, but leaves a few things to be desired in other arenas. Sigh. As I've told him frequently over the past year, if I didn't love him so much I'd kill him.

Anyway, nice to be in touch again, and if the husband ever behaves himself and stops getting fractures, etc., we'd love to visit the Bay Area again. Next year is our 25th anniversary, so there's some muttering (from me) about going back to the scene of the happy event.
